Built to work in your favour

A starting place of your own, built on product thinking, before the noise gets a say.

The spin cycle isn't a strategy. Commercial signals are

The startup ecosystem can be a washing machine of ideas and inputs. Startup Compass helps you set your own goals and provides a filter for all the helpful (and unhelpful!) advice by focusing on what the market is saying to you. Anyone can tell you how they would do it - the only person who can turn it all into a strategy that puts you first is you.

Startup Compass is a funding-agnostic navigation system that helps you map where you are commercially and identify what to focus on next. No paid partnerships. No promoted programs. Just a structured read on your position and the next steps that actually move you forward.

    How it works

Startup Compass starts with a five-minute commercial readiness assessment. At the end you get a stage read that tells you where you sit on the path from earliest exploration to commercial traction.

    Index

Not just a comprehensive map of opportunities across the Australian ecosystem. A recommendation tool that helps you understand what is in it for you, and whether an opportunity is well-matched to your stage and goals.

    Toolkit

Years of experience as product leaders and mentors, distilled into tools that help you apply the same product thinking strategies that lead strong product organisations to success.

    Sessions

Smaller-grip application of the learning. Workshops and microlearning that help you apply product thinking in shorter formats.

    Communities

Founder communities and professional networks worth knowing about. We point to them, we do not run them.

Check your signal, and the four surfaces filter to your stage. Skip it, and you can still browse everything.

    Who builds it

The Product Bus is a product strategy practice based in Melbourne. We built Startup Compass because the founders we work with kept asking the same questions, and the existing tools were not built to answer them honestly.
